Bridgid Coulter Cheadle founded Blackbird Collective, a luxury coworking space for women of color, in 2018.
This flexible work and wellbeing membership facility in Culver City, Los Angeles (CA) reopened in June after being closed due to the pandemic.
When Cheadle was looking for a place for her interior design business, she was drawn to women-owned facilities, but they were few and far between. She created a unique place to motivate women of color and their allies to advance their lives and professions.
Blackbird was designed to inspire ambitious women of color and allies to transform the world. Blackbird helps a $26 billion global coworking business expand. As with many other businesses, Blackbird returned in June with newfound zeal and 500 confirmed members, Cheadle told Travel Noire.
Bridgit began acting in the 90s. After performing in hit series and the film Rosewood, where she met her husband Don Cheadle, she returned to UCLA to acquire a certificate in interior design and has operated a thriving design business since.
She wants to celebrate creativity, wellness, productivity, and activism, which Bridgid values. She ceased using VOC-containing materials before California outlawed them, she claimed.
Cheadle said Blackbird's flagship site has a collaborative workspace, 6 private offices, meeting rooms, a Flyness Podcast studio, the Nest major event stage, and the Seeds Cafe. Smart guest check-in and security, a mother's room and shower, a meditation BirdLoft, and outdoor terraces and patios are all included.
Coulter Cheadle stated, "We curated the Blackbird area to feel comfortable, empowering, and reflective of our business concept."
"We were pleased to open our doors to the community on Juneteenth."
