| Super User | Love

The 1990s saw the rise to fame of actress Nia Long thanks to her parts in Boyz in the Hood,Friday, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

After the tremendously popular urban love classic Love Jones, she subsequently very much became a household name.

The actress, who is now 51, once again graced our screens in her latest Netflix film Fatal Affair with Omar Epps, showing us all that she hasn't aged a day. Nia Long hasn't aged since Love Jones, according to a Twitter follower. What is the top-secret, sis?

Water, sex, and vitamins are the key, Long replied.

Particularly in regards to the "sex" element, she is not lying.

According to recent research by sexual health facilities, both men and women can benefit from the cardiovascular benefits of sex. Sex is a form of light exercise, albeit not a sufficient one on its own.

Just a few of the advantages of having sex are:

  • blood pressure reduction
  • calorie expenditure
  • expanding heart health
  • building up the muscles
  • lowering your risk of heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure
  • boosting libido

Compared to individuals who are less sexually active, people with active sex lives tend to exercise more regularly and eat healthier. Additionally, being physically fit may enhance overall sexual performance.

Her Cheat Code was Handed Down

Nia's genes are another factor that contributes to her youthful beauty. "She gets it from her mama" is a statement that has a long definition.

The actress said to NewBeauty, "[My mum] endowed me with wonderful skin. I want to look as wonderful as this woman, who is in her late 60s and has amazing style.”

Her healthy lifestyle is another element that can be causing her skin to glow.

"I eat healthy, organic foods and keep the weight off with a lot of yoga, Pilates, and jump rope, which I try and perform every day for the duration of at least one song," she said to NewBeauty.

And she has never gotten Botox.

Although she claims she has nothing against "something that makes you feel and look nice," she asserts that she believes you should only do what is necessary, and for her, the right time hasn't yet come.

In a Glamour interview, Nia said, "Whether you have oily skin or dry skin, what happens is when you're under the lights all day, you start to feel dry. And what I've discovered over the years is that Chantecaille has this lovely rosewater, which I spray on my face before dabbing a little amount of moisturizer in the areas where I see the foundation or powder is cakey. Your skin just becomes instantly more radiant.

“But the important thing is that you have to dab, not wipe.”

The Power of Meditation, and How She Uses It

"I see a difference when I don't do it. Actually, meditation is merely some peaceful time for you to think.

“I believe that to some extent, we all lead busy and chaotic lives. You need to take some time to yourself to relax and not stress about what needs to be done, what you achieved or didn't, or whether you did everything correctly.” Instead, she advises, take some time to yourself to be still and focus on the present.

"I get stressed out if I don't practice,” she explained.

The actress, who was raised in Brooklyn, claims that when she was a young child, her grandmother introduced her to meditation. Nia was raised by a busy single mother, and her grandmother frequently looked after her.

"My grandma used to say, ‘Come on, let's relax,’ every day at about 2:00.

“When she meditated, she would lie on her back with her arms folded. She seemed insane to me. We would play the cassette on which the man urging us to breathe deeply was recorded.

“When I was younger, I thought it was the craziest thing, but by the time I was 13, I had come to accept it and it had become a daily ritual for us,” says Nia.

How Food Affects Her Appearance

“I was vegetarian when I was a child,” she says. "My mother is vegan.”

“Today, I'm not either, but I'm grateful that I know better. Many people lack the knowledge necessary to understand what a healthy diet is and how crucial it is.

“I was the little child who enjoyed chunky peanut butter produced from actual peanuts without any added sugar or flavoring. On that hard whole wheat bread, I consumed peanut butter and jelly virtually daily; it is currently my favorite snack.”
